The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, marked the formal establishment of the commission, which is conceived as a platform for coordination and collaboration between the Balearic Government and the island councils in the area of tourism planning. Its primary mission is to ensure consistent implementation of tourism regulations across all relevant institutions.

The main topic addressed in the session was illegal tourist accommodation and the regional government’s approach to tackling it.

In this regard, an initial assessment was conducted on the implementation of Decree Law 4/2025 of April 11, aimed at combating illegal tourist rentals. The decree includes transitional measures to regulate supply and improve tourism quality throughout the Balearic Islands.

Minister Jaume Bauzà stated:

“The Government is fully committed to controlling growth and ensuring tourism quality, and to achieve that, we must work hand-in-hand, in coordination with the island councils.”
