The Consell de Mallorca has launched the initiative “Nit d’estrelles”, a sports-oriented overnight camp for schools serving children from low-income families. A total of 200 sixth-grade students are enjoying a two-day experience featuring outdoor sports activities, held for the first time at the public estate of So’n’Amer in Escorca.

“Nits d’estrelles” by the Consell arrives for the first time at So n’Amer with schoolchildren from low-income families
The seven participating schools were selected by the Department of Education and Universities of the Balearic Government (GOIB) based on vulnerability criteria. These schools are: CEIP Alexandre Rosselló (Palma), Cas Saboners (Magaluf), El Terreno (Palma), Miquel Porcel (Palma), La Soledat (Palma), Llevant (Inca), and Tresorer Cladera (Sa Pobla). The aim is to allow different groups of preadolescents to enjoy a rotating annual school trip that includes sports activities.
Pedro Bestard, Minister for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports at the Consell de Mallorca, visited the event and emphasised that “we want students to enjoy a meaningful experience with their classmates, with recreational and sporting activities at the heart of it all.” The stays include orientation workshops, traditional games, a night activity themed around the stars, hiking, and a visit to the Lluc botanical garden.
The “Nit d’estrelles” program began in 2023, and this is its third year in operation.
