At an institutional ceremony, the careers of 64 workers who have been part of the service since its inception were formally recognised.

The Minister for Enterprise, Employment and Energy highlighted the dedication, hard work, and commitment of the public body’s staff, as well as the service’s institutional trajectory.

The Employment Service of the Balearic Islands (SOIB), a body under the Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, has celebrated its 25th anniversary by honouring those who have worked for the organisation since its founding.

In a formal ceremony held at the Consolat de Mar, the Minister for Enterprise, Employment and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, together with the Regional Secretary for Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer, and the Director of SOIB, María de la Luz Moreno, presented a commemorative diploma and pin to 64 workers who have dedicated 25 uninterrupted years to employment services, training, and support for citizens through SOIB.

The Minister emphasised the relevance and institutional development of the body, which has always focused its activity on people. He especially praised “the work, commitment, and humanity” of those who, since the service’s creation in 2000, “have dedicated their talent, vocation, and effort to guiding thousands of citizens on their journey” toward employability.

In this regard, Sáenz de San Pedro noted that “the SOIB is not just an organisation. It is a network of people who for a quarter of a century have stood by those in need, seeking an opportunity, training, guidance, or career advancement.”

He also stated that the 25th anniversary is a moment to “look to the future with determination, knowing we have a solid foundation, a committed team, and a clear purpose: to continue making SOIB the human face of our employment policies.”

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary for Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer, expressed her appreciation for “the dedication, commitment, and professionalism of the public servants who make SOIB’s work possible every day. Today is a day to say it and recognise it, to pause and reflect on how fortunate we are to have such an experienced and high-quality team that brings SOIB to life—because the Employment Service of the Balearic Islands is, in fact, them.”

The SOIB is an autonomous public administrative body whose primary mission is to plan, manage, and coordinate active employment policies. Its responsibilities include informing, guiding, and facilitating labour market intermediation, promoting employment in all its forms, and developing vocational training.

Specifically, the SOIB runs vocational training programs, promotes dual vocational education (FP dual), and leads initiatives like “SOIB Joves Qualificats,” which offer young people with higher education their first professional experience. It also designs training vouchers, develops specialized training for emerging sectors, and operates a network of 14 regional offices shared with the SEPE, along with its central office in Son Rossinyol, the Centre de la Mar, L’Embat, the COE Balears (Guidance, Entrepreneurship, Support and Innovation Centre for Employment), and a sectoral business office.
