The public inner courtyard project located on Carrer de na Ferrilla in Inca has been awarded the 2025 FAD Opinion Prize in the City and Landscape category. The award was announced during the FAD Architecture and Interior Design Awards ceremony, held on June 10 at the Teatre Lliure in Montjuïc, Barcelona.

Organised by ARQUIN-FAD since 1958, the FAD Awards are the oldest and most prestigious accolades in the fields of architecture and interior design in Spain and Portugal. The Opinion category reflects the vote of ARQUIN-FAD members and professional audiences, recognising projects that successfully connect with citizens and foster consensus within the discipline.

Project on Carrer de na Ferrilla in Inca Wins 2025 FAD Opinion Award

The winning proposal transforms a disused inner courtyard into a new high-quality open public space in the Sant Francesc neighbourhood, located in Inca’s historic centre. Promoted by the City Council, the intervention has resulted in the creation of a new square, which will officially be named Plaça de na Goig, in tribute to a Jewish female doctor who was part of the town’s community in the 14th century.

The project stands out for its urban sensitivity, its intention to revitalise the neighbourhood fabric, and the creation of a naturalised environment that promotes coexistence and accessibility. It was designed by architects Tomeu Ramis Frontera and Aixa del Rey García from FLEXO Arquitectura, with technical contributions by Lluís Ortadó and Xisco Alemany, acting as executive director on behalf of the City Council. Engineering firms AIA and Other Structures also collaborated, and the construction was carried out by the local Inca-based company Paesma.

With this recognition, Inca reaffirms its position as a leading city in the recovery of urban spaces through a sustainable, participatory, and forward-looking approach.
