Call for Applications Open for the Literacy and Mathematics Skills Reinforcement Programs for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Schools wishing to join these programs must submit their application through the online procedure available on the Electronic Headquarters of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands by June 22, 2025. A total of 20 schools will be selected for the literacy program, and 40 for the mathematics program. Provisional lists of admitted schools will be published on the website of the Educational Innovation Service: https://sie.caib.es.

The implementation of these programs responds to the need to strengthen two basic skills that are essential not only for the educational success of students but also for their full personal, social, and professional development, enabling them to integrate into today’s globalized world as engaged citizens, as outlined in the European Union’s guidelines.

It is also worth noting that the results obtained by students in the Balearic Islands in various national and international diagnostic assessments, such as the PISA tests and evaluations by the IAQSE, have revealed that proficiency levels in reading and mathematics fall below the average. This reality highlights the urgent need to implement concrete measures to improve these fundamental learning areas.

To ensure effective implementation of these two programs, the Regional Ministry will monitor progress using the results from IAQSE’s diagnostic assessments.
