The Inca City Council has launched the “Salut i Goig” project, a pioneering initiative from the Equality Department aimed at integrating a gender perspective into municipal public health. The objective is to contribute to the well-being of the population—especially women and vulnerable groups—through awareness, education, prevention, and health promotion activities in all its dimensions.
The project is structured around several areas of action, addressing key issues such as menstrual health, maternal mental health, nutrition and eating disorders, sexual and reproductive rights, and research with a gender perspective.
The project has already launched a campaign focused on menstrual rights, aiming to ensure a dignified, free, and healthy menstrual experience. This first initiative includes training sessions led by health professionals and the free distribution of reusable menstrual hygiene products to participants. Specifically, the talk “MenstruAction” was held, aiming to break taboos, increase awareness of the menstrual cycle, and promote sustainable practices.

Inca City Council Launches the “Salut i Goig” Project to Promote Health with a Gender Perspective
In the coming months, the following pillars of the project will be developed:
- “Mother’s Voice”: a campaign dedicated to maternal mental health, including emotional support groups for women in the perinatal period, awareness spaces, and actions to destigmatise conditions associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
- “More Than a Body and a Size”: focused on preventing eating disorders and combating body image pressure. Training workshops, school-based actions, and educational materials will promote a healthier relationship with one’s body.
- Sexual and Reproductive Rights: talks, workshops, and awareness actions will address sexual rights, gender identity, affective diversity, and comprehensive sexual education, with special attention to youth, LGBTQ communities, and vulnerable individuals.
- Studies and Research: The generation of gender-sensitive data and knowledge on health in Inca will be promoted to shape more equitable and effective public policies.
These actions will be progressively implemented over the next four years. The project will also include continuous coordination and networked collaboration among the City Council, community organisations, and professionals in health and education, to ensure a collective response rooted in the real needs of the population. All actions will be guided by an inclusive, intersectional, and community-based approach.
