93.99% of 3-Year-Old Students Admitted to Their First-Choice School

A total of 12,539 applications were submitted for all education levels

This year, 7,473 applications were submitted for students entering the 4th year of preschool (age 3).

The school enrollment process for the 2025/2026 academic year has concluded with a total of 12,539 applications across all educational levels. Of this total, 7,473 applications correspond to students aged 3 entering the 4th year of early childhood education:

  • 5,822 in Mallorca
  • 593 in Menorca
  • 1,002 in Ibiza (Eivissa)
  • 56 in Formentera

Overall, 74.6% of students were admitted to the school listed as their first choice, representing 9,364 students. Additionally, 85.44% of applications were submitted online.

3-Year-Old Students (4th Year of Preschool)

Regarding the applications for the 4th year of preschool, 93.99% were placed in the first-choice school, which equates to 7,024 children.

Breakdown by island:

  • Mallorca: Of the 5,822 applications received, 94.60% were placed in the first-choice school.
  • Menorca: Out of 593 applications, 94.26% secured placement in their first choice.
  • Ibiza (Eivissa): 90% of the 1,002 applicants were admitted to their top-choice school.
  • Formentera: 98% of the 56 applicants were placed in their preferred school.

Across the Balearic Islands, 4.67% of 3-year-old students (349 children) were assigned to alternative options and remain on a waiting list until September 30, in case spots become available at their first-choice school.

Additionally, 1.4% of applications (100 cases) were not assigned during this first phase. These families already have a scheduled appointment with the School Enrollment Office to receive their school placement.


Palma

For the 2025/2026 school year, the municipality of Palma received 2,362 applications for the 4th year of preschool. Of these:

  • 2,226 students (94.24%) were admitted to their first-choice school
  • 102 applications (4.31%) were placed in their second-choice school
  • 34 children (1.43%) were not placed during this initial admissions process

In total, 98.55% of applications submitted in Palma were assigned a school placement within the municipality.

It is worth noting that for the 2025/2026 academic year, a new school zoning system has been implemented in Palma, dividing the city into two educational areas. The goal is to ensure a more equitable distribution of students and to improve the admissions process.
