The Balearic Government supported the security and emergency deployment, which included over 500 personnel
The Emergency Service of the Balearic Islands (SEIB112), under the Ministry of the Presidency and Public Administration, managed a total of 73 incidents related to the Sant Joan festivities in Ciutadella. By type, most incidents were medical assistance (33 in public spaces and 2 at private residences), falls (29), fights (3), and acts of vandalism (1), among others.
Unfortunately, late last night in the Jocs des Pla area, a 54-year-old man from Ciutadella was struck by a horse at the end of one of the “córrer abraçats” races. Due to the severity of his condition, he was evacuated to the Son Espases University Hospital. SEIB112 provided a psychologist to support his family.

For this edition of the Sant Joan festivities, the Government of the Balearic Islands allocated over €90,000 to support the security and emergency deployment that assisted the Local Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPAL), organised by the Ciutadella Local Police and Town Hall. The Directorate General of Emergencies and Interior contributed to this operation with 7 technicians and agents from the Emergency Operations Unit (UOP) from Mallorca and Menorca, 41 local police officers from various municipalities in Mallorca, and 51 civil protection volunteers from both islands. The operation, which coordinated more than 500 personnel from various security and emergency services, also included the Red Cross, Samu-061, telecommunications technicians, the National Police, Civil Guard, and security staff from the Balearic Islands’ Port Authority.
The Government of the Balearic Islands wishes to publicly express its recognition and appreciation to all those who took part in the security and emergency deployment during the Sant Joan festivities.
“We must highlight the professionalism, coordination, and dedication of all these personnel, thanks to whom it was possible to ensure safe festivities with an effective response to any eventuality,” stated Pablo Gárriz, Director General of Emergencies and Interior.
Likewise, the Government extends its gratitude to the participants of the festivities for their good behaviour and demonstrated responsibility, which were key in ensuring that the Sant Joan celebrations took place with joy, civility, and an exemplary spirit of community.
