The La Misericòrdia Cultural Centre is hosting the travelling exhibition of the ADEMA University Art Biennial from June 25 to August 9. The exhibition brings together artistic and research works from 21 Fine Arts schools across the globe. Inaugurated this Wednesday, the show offers a plural and multidisciplinary view of how contemporary art is taught, researched, and created in the world’s most innovative academic institutions, according to Antònia Roca, Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Councillor for Culture and Heritage.

Each participating university has contributed a piece that serves as a symbolic synthesis of its artistic vision, many of them emerging from collaborative processes. The exhibition features a wide range of formats, including sculptures, immersive installations, and audiovisual works. One highlight is the installation by Princeton University (USA), which transforms the exhibition hall into a sensory experience that directly engages the audience.

Vice President and Councillor Roca emphasised the importance of this exhibition as a space for educational and cultural advancement: “Art is a driving force for thought and social transformation. This exhibition proves that collaboration among educational institutions worldwide can generate creative and reflective environments that are essential to today’s society.” Roca also expressed pride in turning Mallorca into a meeting point for emerging talent: “Today, the island becomes a stage for the new generations of artists, and that is a great source of satisfaction.” She concluded by announcing that once the exhibition ends its run at La Misericòrdia, it will travel to several municipalities across Mallorca to be enjoyed throughout the island.

Meanwhile, ADEMA President Diego González thanked all participating universities for their involvement and highlighted that this biennial strengthens Mallorca’s position as an international reference in contemporary university art. He also noted that the event provides a genuine platform to promote and project young talent.

The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge at the Pati de Dones exhibition space in La Misericòrdia, from June 25 to August 9, continuously from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
