Works, currently in the bidding phase, will last four months and aim to improve both the safety and functionality of the school
The Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats has put out to tender the repair works on the roofs and emergency stairs of IES Felanitx, with a base budget of €860,123.85 and an estimated execution period of four months. This is considered a priority action to ensure the safety of both students and teaching staff, as well as the functionality of the school facilities.
The project includes two distinct lines of action. The first involves repairing the flat roofs on the first and second floors, incorporating three different types of surface finishes depending on the area: pavement, gravel, and self-protected asphalt membrane. Additionally, a new cat ladder will be installed to facilitate technical access to the roof.

The second line of work focuses on improving the school’s evacuation elements. The two deteriorated exterior metal emergency staircases will be repaired, and both the emergency exit doors and those providing roof access will be replaced to ensure safety during an evacuation.
This project is part of the investment plan of the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats to improve and maintain public educational centres across the Balearic Islands in optimal condition, prioritising structural safety and compliance with current prevention and evacuation regulations.
Through this tender, the Government reaffirms its commitment to modernising educational spaces and progressively upgrading school infrastructure throughout the region. This commitment is reflected in the Illes en transformació initiative, which seeks to enhance and expand key infrastructure throughout the Balearic community.
