A total of 10 concerts will take place at the Auditorium of Palma between October 2, 2025, and May 7, 2026

Current subscribers will enjoy free admission to OSIB’s Christmas concert at the Chapel of Mallorca Cathedral

The Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSIB) presented its 2025–26 season at a press conference chaired by Jaume Bauzà, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports; Cristina Martínez, General Manager of OSIB; and Pablo Mielgo, Principal Conductor of the orchestra.

As explained by the minister, “the new subscription season consists of a total of 10 concerts at the Auditorium of Palma, running from October 2, 2025, to May 7, 2026.” Bauzà also highlighted that OSIB will offer additional performances such as special concerts, chamber music, social outreach series, and educational programs across Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza in an effort to ensure territorial balance with diverse programs for all audiences.

Cristina Martínez, OSIB’s general manager, announced that current subscribers will be able to renew their subscriptions from July 1 to August 25, 2025, at the Auditorium’s box office (Monday to Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.). New subscriptions will be available starting September 1, 2025, at the same location (Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday to Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) for €300 for stalls and €225 for the amphitheatre.

This year’s subscribers will also enjoy free access to OSIB’s Christmas concert held in the chapel of Mallorca Cathedral, with the choice of attending either December 18 or 19, 2025. The program will feature selections from J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and performances by soprano Irene Mas, countertenor Rafael Quirant, baritone Tomeu Bibiloni, and the Cathedral Chapel Choir.

Individual ticket sales will also begin on September 1. Prices are €35 for stalls and €30 for amphitheatre seating, available both at the box office and through OSIB’s website (www.simfonicadebalears.com). Music school and conservatory students can purchase tickets for €5; youth cardholders receive a 50% discount; and groups of 10 or more people are eligible for a 10% discount.

Cristina Martínez also announced a new visual identity for the OSIB for each concert held at the Auditorium of Palma, featuring cover artwork by painter Josep Coll i Bardolet, a devoted follower of the orchestra.

The subscription season at the Auditorium will open on October 2, 2025, at 8:00 p.m., with a program featuring The Bullfighter’s Prayer by J. Turina; Nights in the Gardens of Spain by Manuel de Falla, with soloist pianist Davide Cabassi; Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune by C. Debussy; and Don Juan by R. Strauss. The season will conclude on May 7, 2026, with Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 10, with both concerts conducted by Maestro Pablo Mielgo.

The audience can look forward to a program featuring works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Verdi’s Requiem, Strauss’s Don Juan, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 “Romantic”, Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto, among others.

The principal conductor, Pablo Mielgo, noted that this new season will feature guest soloists including violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann; pianists Olga Kern, Anna Fedorova, Alekséi Volodin, and Davide Cabassi; sopranos Mira Alkhovik and Marta Bauzà; mezzo-sopranos Silvia Tro Santafé and Begoña Gómez; tenors Antoni Lliteres and Joan Lainez; bass-baritone Sebastià Serra; Menorcan bass Simón Orfila; the brass quintet Spanish Brass; timpanist Javier Eguillor; the UIB Choir and the Studium Choir. Alongside Maestro Mielgo, guest conductors will include Nuno Coelho, Rune Bergmann, and Pietari Inkinen.

Mielgo also highlighted the orchestra exchange program between OSIB and the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, part of this season’s agenda. The Mallorcan audience will enjoy a performance by the Málaga Philharmonic under José María Moreno, featuring Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Alekséi Volodin and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique”. In return, OSIB will perform Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, a selection of Schubert Lieder, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, with baritone Benjamin Appl, at the Cervantes Theatre on April 9 and 10, 2026.
