237 New Medical Residents Begin Specialized Training in Public Health Centers Across the Balearic Islands
Residents will complete their training in public and affiliated teaching units across the health network. Depending on the speciality, the training period ranges from four to five years (three for medical physics and radiopharmacy), while nursing residents follow a two-year program.
During the event, organizers also presented introductory Catalan language courses developed in partnership by the Balearic Health Service and the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics. These courses are aimed at healthcare professionals across all care levels who have little or no knowledge of Catalan and focus on communication scenarios specific to the healthcare environment.
The goal of these courses is to promote and guarantee the use of Catalan as the official and native language of the Balearic Islands, facilitate access to learning it for health professionals, and encourage its gradual use as a working language, thereby improving communication with patients.
