Balearic Shipowners Register Lists Over 60 Vessels and 40 Authorised Companies for Tourist Maritime Transport in the Balearic Islands
The services operate with various types of vessels — from catamarans to traditional sightseeing boats (“golondrinas”) and larger passenger ships — sailing in designated zones along regulated and authorised routes, as approved by the competent authorities. These measures aim to ensure the activity is compatible with environmental protection.
Among the companies with the largest number of registered vessels are Creuers Illa Balear, Armadores de Peguera, Bennassar Naviliers, Sercomisa, Tramontana SL, and Cruceros Costa de Calvià, all of which operate continuously on the main tourist routes of the archipelago. The register also includes smaller operators offering key services in ecologically sensitive areas, such as Excursions a Cabrera, Sa Calma Boats, and Transportes Marítimos Puerto de Sóller.
Managed by the General Directorate of Ports and Maritime Transport of the Government of the Balearic Islands, the register serves as a tool for oversight, organisation, and transparency, ensuring that maritime tourism activities are conducted with full legal and safety guarantees. It also supports coordination with inspection bodies and enables monitoring of the recreational maritime transport sector, especially during the high season.
The Balearic Shipowners Register is published regularly and can be consulted by any interested citizen or entity.
