Over one million euros in support for co-productions and sustainable film shoots
To stimulate Mallorca’s audiovisual industry, positioning it as an economic driver, and encouraging international co-productions that promote responsible practices in the sector, the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca has launched four new calls for funding, three of which are financed by NextGenerationEU funds, and one with the foundation’s resources.
These support lines are a firm step toward a green, digital, and collaborative transition in Mallorca’s audiovisual sector, fully aligned with European Union policy. With its unique natural and cultural assets that make it internationally attractive, the island now also stands out as a reference point in responsible audiovisual production.

The Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca Promotes Creative Industries and Responsible Audiovisual Production on the Island
These grants are part of the tourism strategy led by the Island Tourism Directorate of the Council of Mallorca, which has shifted its focus from promotional activities to raising awareness on the importance of preserving the island’s cultural, social, and environmental heritage. At the same time, the initiative aims to stimulate the economy by supporting industries aligned with principles of respect and sustainability, such as the audiovisual sector.
Open Calls for Funding
1. Minority Co-Productions of Feature Films, Short Films, Series, and Documentaries
💰 Total Budget: €200,000
This funding line supports market-oriented audiovisual projects in which Mallorca’s participation is minor within the co-production structure. The goal is to foster creative, professional, and artistic exchange between Mallorca and other territories, promote the island as a filming location, and attract large-scale shoots with local economic impact. For the first time (compared to 2023), the call includes short films and non-fiction documentaries.
2. Reduction of Food and Beverage Waste on Film Sets
💰 Total Budget: €150,000
Film shoots on the island must aim for the highest sustainability standards. This funding supports the responsible use of catering services through the reduction of waste by using reusable materials and implementing selective waste collection. Grants are available for the purchase or rental of appropriate containers and contracting sustainable services, in line with the Green Film Rating System.
3. Promotion of Sustainable Mobility in Audiovisual Productions
💰 Total Budget: €350,000
This line supports the purchase or rental of electric or low-emission vehicles. The aim is to help develop a sustainable fleet within Mallorca’s audiovisual industry and reduce emissions from production-related transportation.
4. Energy and Digital Transition to Reduce Environmental Impact
💰 Total Budget: €350,000
An expansion of the 2022 call, this program now offers additional subsidies for actions that reduce energy consumption, such as solar panels, LED lighting, electric generators, batteries, and more energy-efficient cameras. It also encourages the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to recreate virtual locations and reduce travel needs, minimising the carbon footprint of productions.
