The Balearic Institute for Studies (IEB) has presented the participation of Balearic artists in international visual arts events taking place this July: Artesantander (Spain), Cortona On The Move (Italy), and Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles (France).
At Artesantander 2025, painter Jorge Diezma will exhibit “Paisajes suspendidos: bodegones marinos”, curated by Cristina Anglada. The work reinterprets 17th-century maritime still lifes with a contemporary critical lens.

IEB Showcases Balearic Artists at Major International Visual Arts Fairs and Festivals
At Cortona On The Move, photographer Maya Valencia will present “Ca sa padrina”, a personal and political farewell to her family home in Palma, exploring memory, loss, and gentrification. The exhibition is curated by Paolo Woods and fits this year’s theme, “Come Together.”
At Les Rencontres d’Arles, Silvia Prió will exhibit “Gypsie Witches” within the collective show Sortilèges at the Fondation Manuel Rivera Ortiz, while Tomeu Coll will present “Suburbia” in the OFF circuit in collaboration with Belgian gallerist Jacques Cerami.
Additionally, photographers Tomeu Coll, Javier García, Silvia Prió, and Maya Valencia will participate in the festival’s Photo Folio Review, with institutional support from IEB, allowing them to gain international visibility and receive expert feedback on their work.
IEB Director Llorenç Perelló highlighted these international events as “a major opportunity to promote Balearic artists and their work abroad.”
