Both entities have signed a collaboration agreement
José Ramón Orta Rotger, SFM’s manager, and José Luis Martínez Donoso, general director of Fundación ONCE, signed the agreement during a ceremony held at SFM’s headquarters in Son Rullan.
The shared goal of this agreement is to enhance universal accessibility in railway transport in Mallorca, as well as to implement measures and promote initiatives related to training and awareness-raising in this area.
SFM and Fundación ONCE will work together to improve accessibility in transportation
Among the main lines of action set out in the agreement are the development of research projects related to universal accessibility and inclusive design for people with disabilities and the elderly in the region’s transport system. It also includes cooperation in the development of awareness and outreach programs on this subject.
Likewise, both entities will jointly participate in training sessions, round tables, and other events, and will promote universal accessibility and inclusive design in the services managed by SFM. This includes the use of electronic, IT, or digital communication technologies.
To support the promotion, design, innovation, and implementation of universally accessible ICT tools in all activity areas, SFM will receive specialised advice from Fundación ONCE.
Finally, the agreement acknowledges that social inclusion is primarily achieved through employment integration, which provides people with disabilities confidence and fosters their social participation. Therefore, SFM and Fundación ONCE will jointly support initiatives and actions aimed at the effective employment of people with disabilities.
SFM and Fundación ONCE began their cooperation before the signing of this agreement. For several months now, training and awareness sessions have been delivered to staff in the operations area of the company, including inspectors, traffic managers, and train conductors. From the signing of this agreement onwards, such actions will be regularly integrated into the training of all employees of the public railway company.
This collaboration agreement will remain in force for four years from the date of signing and may be extended upon its conclusion.
