The day was marked by 80% participation and incidents involving damage to seven buses from stone-throwing, leading to service cancellations

The transport strike called for this Friday has seen 80.6% participation among drivers from the companies operating the interurban TIB bus service on the island of Mallorca—an autonomous regional service—according to data updated at 11:00 a.m.

The day began with incidents early in the morning: seven buses from one of the TIB network’s concessionary companies sustained damage from stone-throwing. They had to return to the depot in Alcudia. This impacted several scheduled services, including some minimum service routes.

Strike Monitoring Data for the TIB Bus Network in Mallorca

As stated in the resolution published in the BOIB (Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands) last Tuesday, the Balearic Government has established minimum service levels of 60% for the interurban regular transport lines in Mallorca operated by the TIB bus network’s concessionary companies.

The minimum service schedule has been carefully designed to prioritise high-demand commuting hours and to ensure connectivity to hospitals and Palma airport, especially during the early morning departures.

The strike has been called by the Transport Union of the Balearic Islands (SATI) for today, as well as for the upcoming Monday and Tuesday, July 21 and 23, and from Friday, July 25 onwards on an indefinite basis.
