Part of this major international exhibition is hosted at La Misericòrdia and features over 300 artworks by artists from 21 universities worldwide.
The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Vice President and Minister of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, visited the major university contemporary art exhibition organised by ADEMA University School this Monday at its Coll d’en Rabassa campus, the main venue for the University Art Biennial – Art Week 2025.
This international event brings together over 300 artworks created by students and faculty from 21 universities around the world, making it a key reference in the landscape of emerging contemporary art. The institutional visit included a guided tour of the exhibition and a meeting with the project’s leadership team, who emphasised the biennial’s value as a platform for promoting young talent, artistic research, and international exchange.

President Galmés Visits ADEMA’s University Art Biennial, a Showcase Positioning Mallorca on the International Map of Emerging Contemporary Art
Over the past two months, more than 2,500 visitors have experienced the different exhibitions of the biennial, spread across ADEMA’s Palma campus, the Inca campus, the Barceló Foundation, and the Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia. The initiative also includes a travelling exhibition that will tour several municipalities in Mallorca—Calvià, Inca, Costitx, and Alaró—to bring contemporary art to new audiences and regions.
“The Consell de Mallorca’s involvement is key to continuing the promotion of spaces that connect education, culture, and territory,” said President Llorenç Galmés. “This biennial proves that Mallorca can be an international hub for creativity and higher education,” he added.
Vice President Antònia Roca also praised the initiative, highlighting that “ADEMA is an excellent example of how high-quality artistic training can create opportunities for young creators while contributing to the island’s cultural vitality.”
Biennial Director Amparo Sard announced that the travelling exhibition will continue over the coming months in the mentioned towns. Meanwhile, ADEMA President Diego González expressed his gratitude for the institutional support and stated that this event “has firmly placed Mallorca as an international benchmark for contemporary university art.”
Featuring a wide range of formats—including multimedia installations, sculpture, video art, textile art, and performance—the exhibited works explore contemporary themes such as historical memory, identity, the climate crisis, migration, technology, and queer narratives.
