The Council Allocates €815,000 for Sports Equipment for Federations

The call, published today in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB), will be open for applications from Friday, July 25 to August 22. Eligible applicants are sports federations that promote regular sports practice among school-age children within the federated sphere.

The Island Directorate of Sports of the Consell de Mallorca aims to cover expenses arising from investments in sports and technological equipment, such as goals, baskets, tatamis, canoes, sails, boat helmets, diving gear, safety equipment (e.g., harnesses), and more. Federations may also acquire electronic systems and devices to enhance competitions or measure sports performance, such as stopwatches, measurement and precision cameras, smart vests, etc.

The Second Vice President and Minister of Environment, Rural Affairs, and Sports, Pedro Bestard, stated:

“The Consell is responding with more than €800,000 — a significant figure — to a request made by the federations themselves, a group committed to sports training and values.”

He added:

“In this way, we complete a circle of support for grassroots federated sports that includes: renovations of municipal sports facilities used by federations with €12 million, aid for competition development exceeding €1 million, and now this funding to improve equipment, which will translate into efficiency.”
