The Board of Mayors, chaired by Llorenç Galmés, has also addressed issues such as ordinary subsidies and the forest sanitation project funded by the Sustainable Tourism Tax.
The Consell de Mallorca brought together representatives from the 20 municipalities of the Serra de Tramuntana today in a new session of the Board of Mayors, where topics such as progress in drafting the future Serra law, the publication of aid calls aimed at municipalities, and the forest sanitation project financed with Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) funds were discussed.

The Future Serra Law Will Strengthen the Role of Municipalities in the Governance of the Tramuntana Consortium
One of the most notable proposals of the upcoming law is to strengthen the presence and influence of municipalities within the Governing Board, the most relevant administrative and governing body of the Consortium. The proposal includes increasing municipal participation by adding three mayors as members with full voting rights, aiming to ensure a more open, plural, and territorially rooted decision-making process.
The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, stated:
“Municipalities must play a key role in managing the Serra. That is why we want their voice to carry more weight within the Governing Board, the heart of the Consortium. We not only listen to the municipalities; we want them to be part of the decision-making structure.”
Additionally, the Consell has been holding individual meetings with all the mayors of the Serra municipalities in recent weeks. For his part, the Minister of the Presidency, Toni Fuster, highlighted:
“This process has made it possible to gather specific contributions and needs from each municipality, in order to work on the proposal for the Serra de Tramuntana law through dialogue and consensus.”
More Resources for Municipalities and Individuals
During the meeting, it was also announced that the Consell de Mallorca will allocate €2,150,000 this year in ordinary subsidies for municipalities and individuals. This figure represents an increase of €450,000 compared to 2023, consolidating a clear commitment to funding municipal initiatives.
This call for aid aims to subsidise projects for the conservation, recovery, and restoration of heritage, architectural or natural elements, as well as the improvement of agricultural and forest areas, maintenance of iconic spaces, and the drafting of municipal catalogues of public roads. All subsidised activities must be located within the Serra de Tramuntana area.
In total, the budget of the Tramuntana Consortium for 2025 will rise to €4 million, a record figure that represents a firm commitment to preserving and conserving this unique and emblematic territory of Mallorca.
