The Consell de Mallorca Grants Aid to 38 Non-Profit Organizations to Promote Local Products, 65% More Projects Than Last Year

The grants, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB), have a total budget of €650,000, with a maximum amount of €30,000 per beneficiary, which can cover up to 100% of the project’s cost. A total of 23 associations, foundations, and cooperatives will carry out various projects aimed at promoting and disseminating Mallorcan products.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, stressed “the strong response to this line of subsidies, which is why the amount available for this 2025 call has been increased, allowing most of the requested projects to receive support this year.”

“Once again, we have confirmed that the entities receiving these grants represent different productive sectors of the island. This is a good indicator that the aid is reaching more areas than last year,” added Pilar Amate.

65% More Awarded Projects

Unlike the previous year (in 2024, €400,000 was approved, granting the full amount to 23 projects), in 2025 nearly 100% of the €650,000 available has been allocated, enabling support for 65% more projects.

The entities receiving the subsidies range from nearly all regulatory councils of different Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) in the agri-food sector to trade and business associations, cooperatives, fishermen’s guilds, business associations from various municipalities on the island, and agricultural associations, among others.

The five entities with the highest-rated projects are as follows: Cofradía de Pescadores de Palma (1st Sardine Fair of Palma); IGP Vi de la Terra de Mallorca (Raim Wine Fest Palma 2025); Business Association of Inca (Tasta’m Inca Gastronomic Days of Local Trade and Product); PIMECO (Palma, a Whole Center of Fun); and APAEMA (Promotion of Palma’s Organic Market).

Another noteworthy aspect compared to the previous year is an improvement in evaluation scores, which now prioritize the quality of the local products being promoted over the quantity. Additionally, unlike in 2024, projects that promote small-scale and local commerce are given particular recognition.

The department led by Pilar Amate is already working on the next round of aid for 2026, aiming to improve requirements and increase the total amounts in order to reach more entities.
