The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has confirmed the departure of a humanitarian aid shipment from Zaragoza Air Base bound for the Gaza Strip. This joint operation with the Ministry of Defence will use an Air Force A400 aircraft.
The shipment, consisting of 12 tonnes of food — equivalent to 5,500 rations — will feed around 11,000 people and adds to the Spanish aid already waiting at the border. The airdrop will be carried out from Jordan on Friday, August 1, using 24 parachutes.

Foreign Affairs confirms urgent AECID aid shipment to Gaza to feed 11,000 people
This urgent action is part of Spain’s response to the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stressed that the operation is “a drop in the ocean” but necessary to “alleviate the famine induced by the Israeli blockade.”
Albares reiterated that “the situation in Gaza must end and must not happen again,” urging that humanitarian aid enter regularly and safely in line with international standards. He emphasised that the only way to prevent humanitarian collapse is to end the war and implement a lasting political solution based on the coexistence of the two States.
The minister also demanded a ceasefire to allow safe aid distribution and called on the international community to move from words to action, encouraging other countries to recognise Palestine, as Spain did in May 2024.
