The Consell de Mallorca is expanding its support network for victims of gender-based violence with the launch of “Camí Violeta” housing, a new resource that provides a second stage of support for women who have already been assisted at Casa Violeta and who continue to experience emotional suffering.
Consell President Llorenç Galmés and Es Garrover Foundation Manager Gori Molina today signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement between the two institutions. Also present were the Minister of the Presidency, Toni Fuster; the Island Director for Families, Ana Ferriol; the Foundation’s Technical Director, Laura Rodríguez; and the Director of Casa Violeta, Ana Donaire.

Consell de Mallorca Expands Services for Victims of Gender-Based Violence with “Camí Violeta” Housing
The agreement ensures the continuity of a pioneering resource and, at the same time, enables the rollout of this new residential service, which will help women complete their recovery process, rebuild their life projects, and achieve greater personal autonomy.
This expansion consolidates and extends an innovative intervention model in Europe addressing gender-based violence and mental health, resulting from the collaboration between the Consell de Mallorca and the Es Garrover Foundation.
The agreement involves an investment of €1,690,624 — €422,000 more than the previous agreement — for the 2025–2027 period by the island institution. It will allow a 50% increase in available places, rising from 8 to 12, ensuring the continuity of the service and providing care for more women in complex situations.
The new “Camí Violeta” housing units are designed as safe and stable spaces where women can continue their recovery away from their abuser. They will offer stays of up to one year with specific professional support that is more flexible and tailored to promoting autonomy, community integration, and the reconstruction of independent lives. The homes, provided by IBAVI and IBDona, will include individualised follow-up.
During the signing ceremony, Consell President Llorenç Galmés emphasised that this new residential resource represents much more than a service expansion:
“The Camí Violeta housing aims to be a space where women can rebuild their lives, far from their abuser, with the professional support and individualized follow-up they need.”
Galmés also stressed that this agreement “is far more than a financial arrangement: it is the reaffirmation of a firm commitment to move toward a Mallorca free of gender-based violence.”
For his part, Es Garrover Foundation Manager Gori Molina stated:
“With Camí Violeta we can support more women, at more stages of their process, with more tailored responses. We are not only guaranteeing a safe place to emerge from crisis, but also providing a path toward a life with autonomy and dignity.”
A Unique Resource in Spain and a European Benchmark
Casa Violeta is an innovative and transformative resource of the Consell de Mallorca for women who have experienced gender-based violence and who present mental health disorders or distress. It is the only “crisis house” of its kind in Spain and the second in Europe. In just two years of operation, it has assisted 93 women, offering stays of up to six weeks with therapeutic support and 24-hour care provided by a specialised team.
