A funding line with a total budget of up to €1 million
Eligible expenses include set design, audiovisual equipment rental, and preparation of a sustainability plan
To boost the film and television industry in the Balearic Islands, the Institute of Cultural Industries of the Balearic Islands (ICIB) —an entity under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports— published this Thursday a new call for grants for the production and co-production of audiovisual projects. This funding line, in its 2025 edition, will once again provide a total budget of up to €1 million and, in agreement with various professional associations in the sector, will include several updates compared to the previous year’s guidelines.

ICIB Announces New Grant Call for Audiovisual Production and Co-Production
As in the previous edition, this year’s call will be structured into four categories:
- Category A: dedicated to fiction and animated feature films.
- Category B: for documentaries.
- Category C: for short films.
- Category D: covering both miniseries and web series.
In all cases, eligible expenses will include costs related to set design, audiovisual equipment rental, or the preparation of a sustainability plan. Additionally, funding may cover the hiring of the technical and artistic personnel required to develop the projects.
From a technical perspective, and along with the creation of a festival list specifically designed for each category, the maximum funding amount available this year for fiction and animated feature films has also been updated. While in the previous edition this figure was set at €160,000, the 2025 call raises the limit to €175,000. According to De la Cuadra, this decision aims to “prioritise quality over quantity, with fewer projects benefiting but with stronger financial support.”
It is worth noting that the application period is 25 business days from the day following the publication of the call in the BOIB (Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands). Furthermore, applicants may submit a maximum of three applications, regardless of the category in which their projects are registered.
