This 36th edition, which runs until September 15, is expected to close with an overall increase of around 5% in vehicles and 4% in passengers compared to last year. With the start of August, authorities anticipate a surge in traffic at embarkation ports —particularly Algeciras— and advise travellers to plan their journeys, use alternative routes when possible, and arrive with pre-booked tickets to reduce waiting times.

The OPE involves a large-scale coordination effort, mobilising around 29,000 personnel and integrating multiple state agencies, including Ports of Spain, the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy, and Public Health, across the main ports in Andalusia, Valencia, and Melilla.
