During the event, there will be practical demonstrations on how to assemble and use different types of telescopes, as well as an introduction to comets, the origin of meteor showers, and their orbits. The session will also address the hypervelocity at which meteoroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere—reaching up to 59 km per second—and display orbit and planet projections to better understand the movement of these celestial bodies.

As the evening progresses, participants will identify constellations and directly observe the Perseids through the IAAM Foundation’s telescopes. There will also be an introduction to smartphone astrophotography, a technique increasingly popular among night-sky enthusiasts.

The activity is free of charge, but prior registration is required at www.fiaamallorca.com/reservas, as places are limited.

The Tears of Saint Lawrence offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and science, providing an event accessible to all ages. The Inca City Council and the IAAM Foundation promote this initiative to bring astronomy closer to everyone and make the night of August 12 a magical experience under the stars.
