Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics and Instituto Cervantes to Promote Joint Cultural Activities in China

The aim is to hold events in Shanghai and Beijing during 2025 and 2026

This agreement represents a significant step toward the internationalisation of Balearic culture

The Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (IEB) has approved the start of the procedure to sign a collaboration agreement with the Instituto Cervantes with the objective of carrying out joint cultural activities in the Chinese cities of Shanghai and Beijing during 2025 and 2026.

This initiative reflects the IEB’s commitment to promoting the language and culture of the Balearic Islands abroad, as well as fostering cultural exchange with other countries.

For its part, the Instituto Cervantes shares this international vocation through its mission to promote the Spanish language and culture worldwide.

Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics and Instituto Cervantes to Promote Joint Cultural Activities in China

According to the explanatory report recently signed by the IEB’s director, the agreement provides a stable framework for organising cultural events, exhibitions, and educational activities aimed at showcasing the cultural richness of the Balearic Islands in a strategically important international setting such as China.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports —and president of the IEB—, Jaume Bauzá, has officially ordered the start of the administrative procedure for processing the agreement.

This agreement represents a significant step toward the internationalisation of Balearic culture and strengthens institutional relations with a leading organisation such as the Instituto Cervantes.
