The Consorcio de Transportes de Mallorca (CTM) is working on improvements to Palma’s Intermodal Station. The first completed action has been the installation of six new industrial fans in the TIB bus terminal, which have been enhancing ventilation in the bus bays for the past few days.

Until now, the bus bays had an air renewal system that proved insufficient to cope with the rising summer temperatures in recent years. For this reason, the CTM carried out the necessary procedures to equip this area of the station with six HVLS (High Volume, Low Speed) industrial fans.

This type of equipment is commonly used in various buildings to create a more comfortable thermal sensation during high ambient temperatures. The project involved an investment of €40,920.47 (excluding VAT), corresponding to the awarded contract price.

In addition to installing fans in the bus bays to improve air circulation, CTM is also working on upgrading the station’s escalators, which are currently in the tendering process. Other planned improvements include replacing the main entrance doors, upgrading tactile paving, renovating public restrooms, and refurbishing the information and customer service office.

All these upgrades are financed by the Insularity Factor of the Special Regime for the Balearic Islands, with a total investment of approximately €2.5 million. The Government continues to work on improving Mallorca’s interurban public transport infrastructure to ensure a safe, high-quality service for all users.
