The Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS) has implemented an increase in the per-place funding rate for outsourced disability care services, fulfilling the commitment made with third-sector organisations and trade unions. This update, effective retroactively from January 2025, will result in a total investment of €11.5 million over three years.

This measure stems from an agreement signed between public administrations, non-profit organisations, and trade unions. It includes increases in the agreed per-place rate of up to 15.5%, as in the case of residential care services. The goal is to ensure that the island-wide disability care network can provide high-quality and sustainable services, reflecting the current real costs of the sector.

With an Increase of €11.5 million, the Consell de Mallorca Ensures Quality Care for People with Disabilities

Currently, IMAS has 4,500 contracted places with 27 social organisations in Mallorca specialising in the care of people with disabilities and support for their families. This initiative strengthens the public service network and enhances the care available throughout the island.

“We’ve made an unprecedented financial effort because we want Mallorca to be a leader in disability care. Ensuring good working conditions for professionals means ensuring better care for users and their families,”
stated Llorenç Galmés, President of the Consell de Mallorca, who emphasized the Council’s role as a key driver of funding and quality in essential services.

Meanwhile, Guillermo Sánchez, President of IMAS and Minister of Social Welfare, remarked:

“This measure is the result of dialogue and consensus among all parties, but it was the Consell de Mallorca that made it a reality. We are delivering on our promise by placing people with disabilities, their rights, and their quality of life at the center.”

This increase will also improve the working conditions of 2,200 professionals in the sector. The salary increase will apply equally to all workers, regardless of their job category, and will amount to €2,000 in 2025, €1,000 in 2026, and €1,000 in 2027 per person.

With this step forward, the Consell de Mallorca reaffirms its commitment to social policy and full inclusion, and strengthens the role of IMAS as a guarantor of social cohesion and equal opportunities on the island.
