From January to June 2025, Spain’s 016 helpline for victims of violence against women received 59,317 enquiries, averaging 329 per day. Since its launch in September 2007, it has handled 1,402,465 calls.
During this period, there were 50,950 phone calls, 4,729 WhatsApp messages, 2,936 online chats, and 702 emails. Of these calls, 76.3% came from victims, 18.7% from relatives or acquaintances, and 5% from others.

016 helpline handles over 59,000 enquiries in the first half of 2025
Equality Minister Ana Redondo warned that 30% of assaults occur during summer and stressed the importance of using 016 to protect women. She reminded the public that the service is free, confidential, available 24/7 in 53 languages, and accessible for people with hearing, speech, or low-vision impairments.
The 016 service provides information, legal advice, and immediate psychosocial support, refers emergencies to 112, and coordinates resources with regional authorities.
