Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), has authorised an additional €100 million payment under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (ABRS) scheme for the 2024 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) campaign.

This extra funding, equivalent to just over 5% of the amounts already received by ABRS beneficiaries, aims to make full use of the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) resources, in line with EU and national regulations.

As of 20 July, Spanish farmers and livestock breeders had received €4.709 billion in direct EAGF aid, representing 96.5% of the total €4.882 billion budget for this campaign. Payments began on 16 October 2024 and must be completed by 15 October 2025.

The €100 million surplus comes from unspent funds, identified through pending payment applications reported by regional governments. The amount will be distributed by applying a final increase coefficient of just over 5% on the amounts already paid (up from the provisional 1% set in May).

All beneficiaries will receive this additional payment before 15 October, ensuring that Spanish producers receive 100% of the European funding to which they are entitled.
