Green Light for Over €26 Million Investment in the New Felanitx Hospital
The new hospital will provide comprehensive care for patients requiring convalescence or rehabilitation to regain independence, with treatments aimed at stabilising illnesses, supporting functional recovery, and assisting caregivers.
It will enhance healthcare services across the Llevant region, which comprises eight municipalities (Artà, Campos, Capdepera, Felanitx, Manacor, Santanyí, Son Servera, and Vilafranca) and has a population of over 140,000. Currently, 17% of residents (nearly 24,000 people) are over 65 years old. According to projections from the National Statistics Institute, by 2029, the population will reach 148,990, with 20% (almost 30,000 people) aged 65 or over. This demographic shift towards an ageing population is expected to increase the number of chronic patients, underscoring the importance of the new healthcare facility.
