Registered unemployment fell by 1,357 people in July compared to the previous month, bringing the total to 2,404,606 — the lowest figure for this month since 2007. This marks the sixth consecutive month of decline.
Year-over-year, unemployment decreased by 145,631 people, a 5.71% drop. All sectors recorded interannual declines. Every month, the largest drops were in the No Previous Employment group (-3,315 people) and the Agricultural sector (-614). However, unemployment rose in Construction (+138), Industry (+416), and Services (+2,018).

July unemployment hits its lowest level in 18 years
Youth unemployment (under 25) fell by 2,561 in July, reaching its lowest level since records began, with 164,146 young people unemployed. Unemployment also decreased for both men (-456) and women (-901), with both remaining below 1.5 million and 1 million, respectively.
By region, Andalusia saw the largest decrease (-8,035), followed by Castilla-La Mancha (-1,771) and Asturias (-1,296). The sharpest increase was in Catalonia (+4,339).
In July, 1,588,983 employment contracts were signed, 38.39% of which were permanent (609,964). So far this year, total contracts stand at 9,034,369 — up 0.89% compared to the same period in 2024.
