The Balearic Ministry of Health has ordered the temporary closure of an Asian restaurant in Palma
The investigation, carried out by the Food Safety and Epidemiology units, suggests that exposure to the pathogen likely occurred between Monday, August 4, and Friday, August 8. During inspections, officials collected food and utensil samples for laboratory analysis to precisely determine the source of the contamination.
Inspectors also found deficiencies in food preparation at improper temperatures, as well as shortcomings in cleaning and maintenance procedures. As a result, Public Health has suspended the restaurant’s operations until the exact causes of the outbreak are identified and the issues are corrected. The establishment has ten days to file an appeal and outline its corrective actions.
Salmonellosis is a bacterial infection that can cause gastrointestinal illness. Symptoms typically appear between 12 and 72 hours after infection and may include fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In severe cases, medical treatment and hospitalisation may be necessary.
