The seven Personal Autonomy Promotion Centres (CPAP) managed by the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS) will remain open throughout the summer, offering more than 300 hours of activities designed for older adults across various towns in Mallorca.

This seasonal program aims to prevent social isolation, which tends to increase during the summer months, and to continue promoting autonomy, well-being, and active ageing among the island’s senior population.

IMAS CPAP Centers Offer Over 300 Hours of Summer Activities to Promote Active and Independent Aging

The president of IMAS and regional minister for Social Welfare, Guillermo Sánchez, emphasised that “CPAPs are essential spaces to ensure that our elderly stay connected to their surroundings, maintain healthy routines, and strengthen social bonds — especially in summer, when the risk of social disconnection is higher.”

Tailored activities and continuity of service

Each centre offers a program adapted to the needs of its local community, featuring activities such as gentle fitness and maintenance exercises, painting and drawing, memory and creativity workshops, social games, dance, and outings to cultural or natural sites, along with well-established programs like “Grans Actius” and “Vincles.”

These activities support physical and cognitive stimulation, creative expression, and the strengthening of personal relationships — all essential components of a healthy and autonomous life.

Seven centres open all summer

The following CPAP centres will remain active throughout the summer:

  • CPAP Llar Avinguda Argentina (Palma)
  • CPAP Llar de Llucmajor
  • CPAP Llar de Manacor
  • CPAP Llar de Felanitx
  • CPAP Llar Reina Sofia (Palma)
  • CPAP Son Bru (Puigpunyent)
  • CPAP Can Real (Petra)

A network committed to prevention and dignity in ageing

More than 2,000 older adults take part annually in IMAS autonomy programs, which combine physical, cognitive, creative, digital, and social activities. The CPAP network is part of a preventive, person-centred, and community-rooted care model, promoted by the Consell de Mallorca, to ensure equal opportunities and dignity in ageing across all municipalities on the island.
