ABAQUA Launches Project to Improve the Effluent Return System of the Binissalem WWTP Through Evaporation and Infiltration
This project, with a total budget of €433,530.59 (VAT included), is financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax and will be implemented over two fiscal years: €87,933.10 in 2025 and €345,597.49 in 2026.
The main objective of the project is to restore and improve the effluent return systems via lagoon treatment, thereby enhancing the biodiversity of the surrounding natural environment and positively impacting the fauna associated with this wetland. The lagoon system comprises eight artificial ponds with their respective channels and access points, which receive treated water from the WWTP and constitute a habitat of high environmental value.
The base tender budget for the works is €408,991.11 (VAT included), while technical management and safety services have a base budget of €24,539.47 (VAT included).
With this initiative, ABAQUA reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable and responsible management of hydraulic infrastructures and the natural environment associated with them.
