Agreement Authorised with the British Council Foundation for Educational Activities under the Bilingual Education Program

This program, which runs from the second cycle of early childhood education through the fourth year of compulsory secondary education, promotes integrated teaching of content and the English language through a combined Spanish–British curriculum. Four public schools in the Balearic Islands are currently participating: CEIP Na Caragol and IES Llorenç Garcias i Font in Artà, and CEIP Sa Graduada and IES Cap de Llevant in Maó.

The original agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science and the British Council was signed in 1996 and has since been periodically renewed. The new agreement, signed on June 3, 2025, is valid for four years and allows Spain’s autonomous communities to join by signing a specific annexe.

The Ministry of Education and Universities, which has supported this program for nearly two decades through its Foreign Languages and International Projects Service, will continue assisting the participating schools and working closely with the Ministry and the British Council to foster students’ communicative competence in foreign languages across the Balearic Islands.
