The works have been awarded for around €6.1 million to the company Matías Arrom Bibiloni SL, and are expected to start next October.

The Executive Council of the Consell de Mallorca, presided over by Llorenç Galmés, has definitively approved the project to reinforce the surface of the Andratx road Ma-1, which will cost nearly €6.4 million. The intervention will apply new asphalt between kilometres 21 and 32, as sections have been found with cracks and erosion caused by the passage of time. This road is currently one of the black spots in terms of surface deterioration.

The tender process for the works is not yet closed, but Matías Arrom Bibiloni SL has been chosen to carry them out. The company won the award with a bid of €6,122,600. Construction work is scheduled to begin in September or October 2025 and is expected to last six months.

Due to the high traffic density on this road during the day, it has been decided that the works will be carried out at night. Once work has started, there will be traffic closures from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday to Friday. This infrastructure is subsidised through the road cooperation agreement between the Consell de Mallorca and the Government of the Balearic Islands. It is the second most important project financed in this way.

THE PROJECT

The works affect the Andratx road in the section from the Sa Coma tunnel, near Peguera, to Port d’Andratx. In this area, the plan includes repairing “blandones” (deformations in the asphalt caused by poor compaction), removing cracks, erosion, and surface polishing, replacing vertical traffic signs (obsolete according to current regulations), and repainting road markings. At the same time, the shoulders and ditches along the road will be cleaned and cleared.
