The Board of Trustees of the Institut Socioeducatiu s’Estel Foundation has approved a 0.5% salary increase for its staff, retroactive to January 1, 2024. The measure, promoted by the Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care, is intended to acknowledge and strengthen workers’ rights.

During the same extraordinary session, Sandra Fernández, the regional minister, was appointed as the new chair of the Board, and Xisca Viver was confirmed as the Foundation’s manager.

Fernández reassured staff regarding the hazard pay approved by the Balearic Government last July, which for the first time recognises and compensates the risks faced in the juvenile justice centres Es Pinaret and Es Fusteret. She confirmed that payments will be made once the mandatory administrative procedures are completed, and that the additional remuneration will be retroactive for staff working directly with minors.
