The Consell de Govern has authorised the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) to launch two new postgraduate programs: the Master’s Degree in Study and Management of Terrestrial Ecosystems in the Face of Global Change and the Master’s Degree in Global Health.
Both programs address current challenges in sustainability and public health and strengthen UIB’s commitment to high-quality higher education aligned with today’s social demands.

UIB to introduce two new official master’s degrees starting in the 2025-2026 academic year
The Master’s in Study and Management of Terrestrial Ecosystems in the Face of Global Change, promoted by the Department of Biology, will provide multidisciplinary training with both research and professional pathways, focusing on the impacts of global change on Mediterranean ecosystems. It will be a one-year, face-to-face program, offering 25 places and structured in 102 credits, 60 of which are required to earn the degree.
Meanwhile, the Master’s in Global Health, promoted by the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy and coordinated jointly with the Universities of Málaga and Almería, will train professionals in global health strategies, following the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. This one-year program will be taught online, with 75 credits (60 mandatory) and a total of 40 places, including 10 reserved for UIB students.
Both master’s degrees have successfully passed all verification procedures and have been officially authorised for implementation, with an experimental level of 5 for the Ecosystems program and 2 for Global Health.
