The Island Council of Menorca has installed a new covered structure at the Josep Mascaró Pasarius Avenue bus stop (Ciutadella) to provide shade during the summer months and protection from rain throughout the rest of the year.

The project, with an investment of nearly €20,000, responds to a long-standing request from public transport users, who had repeatedly highlighted the lack of shelter at this stop. During the summer, high temperatures and direct sun exposure created uncomfortable and potentially risky conditions, especially for elderly people and vulnerable groups.

The main structure and base have already been installed, and the project will be completed in the coming days with the addition of the roof.

Through this initiative, the Island Council reaffirms its commitment to sustainable mobility and to improving the quality and safety of public transport services. This action complements other recent measures, such as the launch of the shuttle service to Ciutadella’s town centre, which strengthens connectivity and promotes more efficient, sustainable transport across the island.
