Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears and Jazz Voyeur Festival present an open masterclass with Escalandrum on September 5
During the masterclass, Escalandrum’s musicians will share their theoretical and practical approach to Piazzolla’s music, focusing on group dynamics, instrumental techniques, and the creative process that defines the ensemble. This unique event offers young musicians in the Balearic Islands an exceptional opportunity to explore jazz and Argentine tango in a participatory and hands-on way.
Later the same evening, Escalandrum will perform in concert at the Conservatori’s Auditorium as a preview of the 18th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the performance begins at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available through the festival’s official website: www.jazzvoyeurfestival.es.
Founded in 1999, Escalandrum takes its name from the Argentine word escalandrún (a species of shark) and the English word drum, symbolizing the group’s rhythmic originality. With over 25 years of trajectory, performances in more than 40 countries, and 15 albums of original music, the sextet is composed of:
- Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla (drums)
- Nicolás Guerschberg (piano)
- Damián Fogiel (tenor saxophone)
- Mariano Sívori (double bass)
- Martín Pantyrer (baritone saxophone & bass clarinet)
- Gustavo Musso (alto saxophone)
Recognized worldwide as true ambassadors of Argentine music, Escalandrum has earned both critical acclaim and audience admiration thanks to their distinctive sound and dynamic stage presence.
