The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, officially opened the political season at an event held at the Museu de Mallorca, where he highlighted the main projects to be launched in the coming months. Among them, he underlined progress on the Palma Access Plan, a €164 million initiative comprising 13 strategic actions aimed at easing traffic congestion at the city’s entrances. To date, more than half of the plan has been completed, with 7 projects already finished.
According to Galmés, the completed works have already resulted in a 25% improvement in traffic flow on the ring road this summer. Among the completed projects are the resurfacing of the ring road, new zero-lane accesses at Can Valero and Camí de Jesús, the extension of the airport motorway, and improvements to the Son Hugo, Manacor, and Valldemossa junctions.
Ongoing projects include the Son Verí Nou roundabout and works in Llucmajor, expected to be finished by the end of the year. Upcoming works will include the construction of the ITV roundabout on the Sóller road and, in early 2026, the first phases of Section I aimed at reducing congestion on the ring road.

Vehicle Inspection Service: 4,000 extra appointments in September
In parallel, Galmés announced that Mallorca’s five ITV inspection stations will open on Saturdays in September, providing 4,000 additional appointments to further reduce waiting times. He recalled that, at the beginning of the current term, delays for an inspection exceeded five months, whereas now they have been reduced to one or two months, and in some stations to just a few weeks.
