Councillor Pilar Amate visited the “Producto de Mallorca” stand, an initiative designed to bring the excellence of Mallorcan products to every corner of the island.
The Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development of the Consell of Mallorca has launched an ambitious strategy to promote Mallorcan products through a travelling stand that will tour the island’s main municipal fairs throughout the year.
This initiative, officially presented by councillor Pilar Amate, together with island director Álvaro Roca and the mayor of Vilafranca de Bonany, Montserrat Rosselló, represents a decisive step towards valuing Mallorca’s productive, cultural, and traditional heritage.

The Consell of Mallorca promotes local products with a travelling stand at municipal fairs
The stand will become a true showcase of Mallorca’s productive diversity, displaying a wide range of products from all strategic sectors of the island, where visitors will be able to experience first-hand the quality of local products.
“We want every Mallorcan and every visitor to know the story behind each product born in our land,” said councillor Amate. “It’s not just about selling, but about educating, transmitting values, and strengthening the local economy against external production.”
The strategy includes the stand’s presence at the most representative fairs of the Mallorcan calendar, such as the Fira de Caça in Palma, Fira del Pebre Bord (Felanitx), Dijous Bó (Inca), Fira de S’Oliva (Selva), Fira l’Arròs Pobler (Sa Pobla) and the Christmas Fair of Artà.
Each stop will be a unique opportunity for producers and consumers to meet, sharing knowledge about production processes, local raw materials, and the added value of proximity products.
More than an exhibition: an educational experience
The project goes beyond a commercial showcase. Each stand will include live demonstrations, guided tastings, and informational material explaining everything from the origin of raw materials to transformation processes, turning each visit into an educational experience about Mallorca’s productive heritage.
The diversity of sectors represented is remarkable: from the renowned Sobrasada de Mallorca IGP and Mallorca Olive Oil DOP, to lesser-known but equally valuable products such as llatra (woven palm leaves), handmade jewellery, ceramics, wooden furniture, and textiles and footwear that keep the island’s manufacturing tradition alive.
“This initiative reflects our firm commitment to a sustainable economic model and local development,” Amate emphasized. “Promoting local consumption is not only an economic matter; it is a commitment to environmental sustainability, the preservation of traditional crafts, and the safeguarding of our cultural identity.”
The project is part of the Consell’s broader strategy to support local products, which in 2025 allocates 2.1 million euros in direct aid, representing a 50% increase compared to the previous year.
Debut at the Fira del Meló: tradition meets modernity
The official presentation took place at the Festa i Fira del Meló 2025 in Vilafranca de Bonany, where the stand offered a representative sample of Mallorca’s productive richness, accompanied by tastings of the famous local melon, the star product of this traditional fair that attracts thousands of visitors each year.
This initiative positions the Consell of Mallorca as a benchmark in the promotion of local products, demonstrating that it is possible to combine tradition and innovation to create added value and economic opportunities in all the municipalities of the island.
