Mindfulness. World Photography Day 2025 arrives with a unique proposal that combines image, art, and personal well-being. Photography, beyond being an artistic and documentary resource, becomes a bridge to calmness, introspection, and emotional balance.
This year, the event features the participation of Gregorio Ruiz Massanet, the person responsible for mindfulness in Binissalem. Since 2019, he has dedicated his life to spreading the practice of meditation and mindfulness, offering tools to live with greater awareness and serenity.
His vision perfectly connects with the spirit of World Photography Day: slowing down, observing, and experiencing life from another perspective. As he himself explains: “Art can help us observe and feel life from another place. It helps us to become aware. The artist shows us another way of seeing life through their expressions, whatever their discipline may be.”

Just like meditation, photography invites us to focus on details, to be present, and to appreciate what often goes unnoticed in daily life.
Mindfulness. The link between photography, meditation, and mindfulness
In today’s fast-paced society, where time slips away among screens and routines, mindfulness reminds us of the importance of pausing and breathing. Looking at a photograph with calmness can become a meditative act in itself: colours, shapes, and the story behind each image awaken emotions and states of consciousness that go beyond the visual.

Gregorio Ruiz Massanet highlights this connection: “You can experience pleasure, calmness, and stillness simply by observing a work of art. Paying attention to the breath and to everything we do, in the present moment, transforms the experience.”
His proposal for World Photography Day 2025 is to show how the union of art and mindfulness can be a powerful tool for cultivating serenity. It is not only about looking at a photograph but about letting it transform us from within.

Mindfulness practice in Binissalem
Since 2019, Gregorio has been leading a space in Binissalem dedicated to meditation and mindfulness sessions, focusing especially on breathing and attention training. In addition, he offers transpersonal therapy to accompany individuals through difficult moments, as well as systemic family therapy, which works on relationships and inherited family patterns.
His objective is clear: “to create a larger practice group and to normalise meditation in daily life.”
In a world marked by stress, information overload, and inner disconnection, normalising meditation practice is not just an alternative—it is becoming a necessity.
Interview with Gregorio Ruiz Massanet
Q: Gregorio, since when have you been sharing mindfulness practice in Binissalem?
A: We have been offering meditation and mindfulness since 2019. I am the one responsible for coordinating and guiding the sessions.
Q: How do you see the connection between art and awareness?
A: I believe that art can help us observe and feel life from another perspective. It helps us to become aware. The artist shows us another way of seeing life through their expressions, regardless of their discipline.
Q: What can a person experience when contemplating a work of art with full attention?
A: They can experience pleasure, calmness, and stillness. This arises simply from observing a work of art while paying attention to breathing and to what we are doing in the present moment.
Q: What elements are worked on in your mindfulness sessions?
A: Breathing plays a fundamental role, as well as strengthening focus and attention. We also offer transpersonal therapy, which accompanies people through difficult times in their life path.
Q: What is your specialisation within the therapeutic field?
A: I am a specialist in systemic family therapy, a tool that allows us to identify deep dynamics in relationships and improve well-being for both the individual and their environment.
Q: How can people get in touch with you?
A: They can call +34 620 83 91 54, visit us at the Centre de Ioga Ca s’Òliba, or contact me via Instagram: @goriterapia.
Q: What is your main goal at this moment?
A: My objective is to expand the practice group and normalise meditation as a natural part of everyday life.
Art and mindfulness: a transformative experience
World Photography Day 2025 is not only an event for photographers and image lovers, but also an opportunity to explore how art can become a mirror of our inner life.
Gregorio emphasises that art—whether painting, sculpture, or photography—is a universal language that connects us with our essence. When contemplating a photograph with mindfulness, the experience can be transformed into a meditative practice, integrating breathing and awareness.
This approach turns a photography exhibition into more than a cultural event—it becomes a space for personal transformation.
