Consell de Mallorca Consolidates the Pastry and Bakery Festival in Its Second Edition with Great Public Success

Councillor Amate presented awards to eight artisans for their commitment, ethics, and excellence.

The Consell de Mallorca celebrated the Pastry and Bakery Festival this Saturday for the second consecutive year as part of the Diada de Mallorca. The event has now been consolidated with resounding success, attracting a large audience to the Misericòrdia Cultural Centre.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Mallorca Product, Pilar Amate, kicked off the sweetest festival of the year and presented awards to pastry chefs and bakers from across the island in recognition of their commitment, ethics, and excellence. The event also featured the participation of the Island Director of Economic Promotion, Mallorca Product, and Trade, Álvaro Roca, along with other local authorities.

Pastry and Bakery Festival

The festival featured a showcase of local specialities and live cooking demonstrations. The most emotional moment of the day came with the tribute to outstanding pastry chefs and bakers on the island, honouring the excellence of their work and their dedication to preserving traditional recipes.

During the award ceremony, Councillor Pilar Amate congratulated all the honorees “for their excellence, hard work, and dedication,” and highlighted that “the organization of this festival, which enjoys great public support, aims to celebrate the tradition and variety of pastry and bakery establishments that delight us with their quality products, combining tradition and innovation while adapting to new consumer tastes.”

She also stressed that “this event was created to give well-deserved recognition to these professionals, who offer us a wide range of typical desserts that are part of our gastronomy, and who, over the years, have managed to preserve the essence of traditional recipes while incorporating new techniques and presentations.”

Awards for Excellence and Dedication

The most emotional moment of the evening came with the presentation of awards in six categories:

  • Recognition of Tradition and Local Products: Galletes Gori de Muro
  • Recognition of Tradition and Local Products: Forn de ca sa Camena
  • Recognition of Career and Perseverance: Ca na Cati Pastisseries
  • Recognition of Career and Perseverance: Miquel Pujol (Forn de sa Pelleteria, posthumous award, collected by his children)
  • Recognition of Innovation and Creativity: Narez i Cuart
  • Recognition of Emerging Talent: Palma Bread
  • Recognition for Use of Local Products, Traditional Flours, and In-house Production: Forn i Pastisseria Benet Barón
  • Recognition for Perseverance and Dedication to the Guild of Bakers and Pastry Chefs of the Balearic Islands: Pep Magraner (former manager of the Associació de Forners i Pastissers de Balears)

Exhibitors and Live Cooking

The gastronomic event offered a unique opportunity to discover the latest innovations in pastry-making and to taste the specialties of this year’s eight participants: Forn i Pastisseria Trias, La Oliva, Forn Fondo, Pastelerías Ángel, Gluky Palma, Forn de Búger, Narez i Cuart, and Galletes Gori de Muro.

The festival consisted of a free showcase of pastry and bakery products made with local ingredients, and also included a live cooking space where each establishment had the opportunity to demonstrate their techniques in real time.
