The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment of the Balearic Islands has presented the updated figures for the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014–2022. As of December 31, 2024, a total of €168.8 million in aid has been approved, co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the regional government.

Fernando Fernández, Director General of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, explained during the final RDP Monitoring Committee meeting that 121 calls for applications have been launched, resulting in 9,600 requests, of which 7,454 have been approved. Out of the total aid granted, €127.3 million has already been disbursed. Since payments can be made until December 31, 2025, the final amount is expected to be higher.

During the session, attended by representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry, adjustments to budget allocations were presented to optimise project implementation and maximise available funds. The RDP Monitoring Committee is the official body established under the Common Agricultural Policy to evaluate and oversee the execution of programs in each territory.

In addition, the fifth Regional Monitoring Committee of the CAP Strategic Plan (PEPAC) was also held today. Attendees were informed of the approval of the first modification for 2025, which introduces minor changes to amounts, requirements, and access criteria.

The Committee also requested authorisation to carry forward commitments from 2023–2024 that cannot be paid or justified into the next period, and reviewed the development of the good execution mechanism designed to ensure no European funds are lost.

Agricultural organisations, cooperatives, and entities linked to the primary sector of the Balearic Islands also took part in these meetings.
