Nearly 400 people with disabilities receive over €415,000 in financial aid from the Consell de Mallorca
Guillermo Sánchez, Minister of Social Welfare and president of IMAS, highlighted the importance of this initiative:
“Our goal is to make the daily lives of people with disabilities easier and to support those who care for them. For the first time, we have included funding for family respite services, which are vital to help caregivers reconcile their personal and family responsibilities.”
This year’s call for applications was divided into three main areas: funding for technical and assistive equipment, support for healthcare and social treatments, and access to family respite services. As an additional measure, people with disabilities greater than 66% could apply for two subsidies at the same time, while income thresholds were raised for households with more than one disabled member.
IMAS has already completed the payment procedures and is preparing a new call, with the aim of strengthening and expanding support for people with disabilities and their caregivers.
