The Director General of Mental Health, Carme Bosch, opened the 1st Conference on Leisure and Emotional Wellbeing, an event that promotes leisure as a tool for psychosocial protection and the promotion of emotional health.

Bosch emphasised “the importance of quality leisure as a driver for preventing mental health problems,” adding that it also enhances wellbeing and self-esteem, while helping to counteract risks such as excessive screen time and sedentary lifestyles.

Organised by the General Directorate of Mental Health with the support of the Deusto Leisure Institute, the conference takes place in a context where stress, social isolation and emotional distress particularly affect children, adolescents, and vulnerable groups.

The event aims to provide social professionals and third-sector organisations with innovative and practical resources, along with methodological strategies to integrate active leisure into their daily work. It also seeks to encourage creativity and innovation in activity design, strengthen professional networks across disciplines, and showcase inspiring practices that demonstrate the positive impact of leisure on emotional well-being.
