Muro Opens New Public Nursery School for Children Aged 0 to 3, with 74 Places
The school began operating in September and forms part of the public network of nurseries run by the regional Ministry. The building was constructed by the Muro Town Council with the support of a €978,428 subsidy from the Ministry, within the program to create new public childcare places funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU plan. The total project cost amounted to €2.4 million.
The centre is staffed with a head of studies, five early childhood education technicians, and two teachers, ensuring high-quality educational care.
Expanding the Public Early Childhood Network
At the inauguration, Minister Vera reaffirmed the government’s commitment to early childhood education:
- For the 2025–2026 academic year, the Ministry will offer over 14,140 public places, an increase of 1,702 compared to the previous year.
- In addition to the Muro nursery, new centres will open in Marratxí, Santa Eulària and Sant Antoni de Portmany, along with new 0–3 classrooms in public schools across the Balearic Islands, including Cala Millor, Fornells, Estellencs, Palma and Caimari.
All of these places are included in the free early childhood education initiative, launched in 2023–2024 to universalise access and support work–life balance for families.
